Top 50 UK Sales Leaders 2019 list – Third Year – 50:50 Women to Men

It’s the moment the UK SaaS industry has been waiting for; when Sales Confidence announces its Top 50 UK Sales Leaders of the year. Did you make the list? Let’s find out.

Last night was a very special night for us at Sales Confidence. It was our final evening event where 200 Sales and Revenue Leaders enjoyed the stunning Andaz Hotel. We heard from three terrific speakers:

● Shabri Lakhani — Founder, SalesWorks

● Sara D. Brooks — VP of Sales, Pleo

● Nicole Brooky — General Manager, Receipt Banks

And me, James Ski, doing my first ever 7-minute talk at Sales Confidence. I can’t believe it took me this long to do it! I now know what the experience is like!

It was an incredible night of learning, networking and fun. However, probably the highlight was being able to unveil our Sales Confidence Top 50 UK Sales Leaders List for 2019.

Highlights of this Years TOP 50:

  1. For the first time, the list is gender-equal with 25 men and 25 women awarded.
  2. 17 Sales Leaders featured from the UK founded companies
  3. Fintech companies ranking highly compared to 2017 and 2018.

Fintech and Women rank high at the Top 50 SaaS Sales Leaders Awards

This annual fixture in the London tech calendar compiles the leaders and future leaders of some of the fastest-growing SaaS businesses in the world. Nominations from within the tech community were cross-referenced with company growth data from CrunchBase, the FT 1000 and the Deloitte 100.

Women Rank High

For the first time ever, Sales Confidence’s Top 50 UK SaaS sales leaders list was gender-equal, with twenty-five men and women named. In 2017, only one woman reached the Top 10, whereas this year five women ranked, with two in the Top 3.

Fintech on top

In 2017, no FinTech companies ranked in the top 10, this year two FinTech companies are in the top 3. FinTech companies are no longer disruptive startups within the industry but established growth companies with widely adopted solutions. Reports from PwC found that 47% of TMT and 48% of FS organisations have embedded fintech fully into their strategic operating model and 44% of TMT and 37% of FS have incorporated emerging technologies into the products and services they sell.

The Top 50 reflects the continued rapid growth and adoption of FinTech, particularly in London. This is a record year for US investment which has reached $4.4bn (£3.4 bn) worth of deals so far, according to research from Pitchbook and London & Partners. London businesses account for more than three-quarters of the investment made by American Investors. FinTech is attracting much of this investment from Silicon Valley with companies like Monzo, GoCardless and CurrencyCloud all getting cash injections this year. “The UK remains a top place for global investors because it is now producing high volumes of scale-up companies,” said Sherry Coutu, angel investor and co-founder of Silicon Valley Comes to the UK.

The Top 3 UK SaaS Sales Leaders

In third place is Sara Brooks, VP of Sales at Pleo, the Danish fintech venture that completed the largest Series B round to come out of the Nordic region at $56 million. Brooks is tackling the £2.1 billion lost every year by UK workers from unclaimed expenses. Sara has tenure and pedigree from building out large distributed sales teams across countries over her stellar career. Her impact on the last 9 months has had a tremendous effect on people, culture and results, with new offices opening across Europe and a target of 400 employees by the end of next year.

Last year’s winner, Jeremy Straker, SVP International of NewVoiceMedia, is runner up. For the last six years, Straker has been building the SaaS engine of one of Europe’s largest B2B SaaS exits. NewVoiceMedia, was acquired by Vonage in 2018 for $350 million, since then he has continued to add value with his 19 years experience in enterprise software,

Nicole Brooky, General Manager of ReceiptBank, is top UK SaaS Sales leader. ReceiptBank, named in Tech Nation’s Future Fifty, Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 and the Time Tech Track 100, is used by over 1.3 million people. Nicole’s rise to the top has happened at a staggering speed. As her responsibilities for the growth of sales teams have grown her ability to upskill herself, her team and the business has created tremendous results.

We received more than 1000 nominations for this prestigious award. We also enlisted the help of a distinguished panel of judges behind the scenes to make sure we recognised the right people. After a lot of deliberation, we finally have our list.
