Who is Kandidate?

Meet Alex van Klaveren

Kandidate’s CEO and Co-Founder is Alex van Klaveren. Alex has been running startups for more than 20 years, so it’s no surprise he has strong views on startup life, sales and leadership. I sat down with Alex to seal our partnership and glean some of that knowledge.

‘Kandidate came about because I saw startups struggling for talent. It wasn’t a talent issue though. It was a process issue. Our platform addresses this problem in a way that puts people first.’

‘For our candidates, I want Kandidate to be the one place to get jobs right now. I want to make sure you get paid correctly. When 50% of sales salaries is OTE, that’s so important.’

Alex runs the sales operation at Kandidate, so naturally, I asked him for a sales tip.

‘Listen. The art of sales is listening. If you’ve been a meeting with a customer and you have hardly said anything, it’s gone well!’

Raising the bar for SaaS in London

For Alex, the partnership between Kandidate and Sales Confidence is about much more than boosting his brand.

Alex spent many years out in Silicon Valley and saw first-hand how they created an environment that nurtures startups to become household names.

‘The UK should be like that. London is currently in 3rd behind San Francisco and New York. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t be 2nd at least!’
